TIMOTHY BOTTOMS
B/w 1974 Paramount publicity photo for The White Dawn, signed in black felt tip
Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: "Timothy Bottoms" in black felt tip. 9¾x8 overall, 9¾x7 image, one surface. Paramount publicity photo for The White Dawn (1974). ©1974 American Film Properties. Attached to verso: Publicity information for The White Dawn. Timothy Bottoms (b. 1951) wasborn in Santa Barbara, California and is an American actor with over 100 films and TV shows to his credit as of this biography. Bottoms got his start in entertainment when he toured Europe with the Santa Monica Madrigal Society at 17. He pursued a stage career after this, but this was sidetracked during a production of Romeo and Juliet, when Dalton Trumbo selected him to play the blind, deaf, armless and legelss protagonist of 1971's Johnny Got His Gun. Bottoms earned a Golden Globe nomination for this role. Bottoms quickly got other plum roles as Sonny Crawford in The Last Picture Show (1971) - a role he recreated in 1991's Texasville - and as law school student Hart in The Paper Chase (1973). After that, his roles became uneven, with notable exceptions as Adam Trask in the TV mini-series adaptation of East of Eden (1981) and as George W. Bush in the short-lived comedy show That's My Bush! (2001) and the more serious-minded DC 9/11: Time of Crisis (2003). Bottoms also made his one and only Broadway appearance in The Fifth of July (1980-1982), appearing alongside brother Joseph Bottoms. Lightly creased and bowed. Light spotting on image (not visible head-on). Otherwise, fine condition.
