Autograph note signed: "To Mary/with all sincere/best wishes from/your friend/Bill Henry" and on verso "To Mary/Robert Young" in pencil, 6x4½ album leaf. Small photographs of the actors attached. Unknown hand pencils the date "November 17, 1937" in top margin. WILLIAM HENRY (1914-1982), often credited simply as Bill Henry, was a child actor from the 1920s. His first credited role was that of an obnoxious teenager/expectant heir in The Thin Man (1934). After prominent roles in action B-movies through the 1940s, he became one of the most frequently viewed guest actors on TV Westerns of the 1950s and 1960s, with several appearances each for Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, the Cisco Kid, Buffalo Bill, the Lone Ranger, Annie Oakley, Wyatt Earp, and in Rawhide and Gunsmoke. His brother, Thomas Browne Henry, was a mainstay of action films and television. In 1932, ROBERT YOUNG (1907-1998) appeared in five feature films, The Wet Parade, New Morals for Old, Unashamed, The Kid from Spain and Strange Interlude. Perhaps best known as Jim Anderson on Father Knows Best (radio 1949-1954; television, 1954-1960) and the title practitioner on television's Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969-1976), Robert Young (1907-1998) also appeared in over 100 films. In some screen roles, such as the cold-blooded spy in Hitchcock's Secret Agent (1936) and the no-good philanderer in They Won't Believe Me (1947), Young showed an acting range far broader than his likeable and wholesome TV characters.
