WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER

Letter from the actor on his personal letterhead, saying that violence can bring no good, and that peace "will finally give understanding"

Autograph letter signed: "BC". 1p, 6¼x4¼. No place, no date. On his personal imprinted note card. To the friends of Alan Fox, in full: "Violence only brings pain & suffering to you. Peace in your heart will finally give understanding. Time is short but every end is a new beginning. Love to all." William Christopher (1932-2016) had made his TV debut in a 1965 episode of Twelve O'Clock High. He would go on to be a series regular (as Private Lester Hummel, 1966-1968) on Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., and Christopher made a number of guest appearances on TV series through 1998 (Mad About You, on which he played a Chaplain). Christopher, who also appeared in made-for-TV movies, made his big screen debut (as Bill Christopher) in The Fortune Cookie (1966). His other film credits include The Shakiest Gun in the West (1968), With Six You Get Eggroll (1968) and Heaven Sent (1994, in which he played a Priest). Although he is best known for playing a priest, Christopher was actually a Methodist. He has been married to his wife, Barbara, who appeared in a 1975 episode of M*A*S*H, since 1957. Corners slightly worn. Fine condition.
