On a sheet printed with musical staves, the Motown composer signs a note wishing fans a Happy Anniversary. A rare signature.
Autograph note signed: "Compliments to Rev.& Mrs. F.W. Britton/on your 50th Anniversary/Best wishes to you/William Goldstein/8.31.85", 9½x7. A child prodigy, William Goldstein (born in Newark, New Jersey in 1942) brought his musical talents to Columbia University at the age of 9, later stumbling into the path of Berry Gordy, who signed him an exclusive contract with Motown in 1975.A pianist, composer and producer, Goldstein was in high demand for his versatility, composing songs in every genre from disco to classical music. In his career he has recorded over 40 albums and scored over 50 movies and television works, including Terror out of the Sky (1978), Fame (1982-1982), The Twilight Zone (1985-1987) and The Witches of Eastwick (1992). In recent years he's continued composing for screen and stage projects, most recently OKI: In the Middle of the Ocean (2014). He is a founder of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, a director of the California State Summer School for the Arts, and is a member of both the music branch executive committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
