WILLIAM HOLDEN
William Holden sends a typed letter of regret that he is not able to offer any advice.
Typed Letter Signed: "Bill", 1p, 8½x11. Palm Springs, California, 1972 June 26. On his personal imprinted stationery, to Norman Earl Thomson, APO San Francisco, Calif. In full: "Please forgive the briefness of this. Your letter caught me literally going out the door as I am off for a trip down through New Guinea, Australia and then Africa. Thanks much for sending on the information re your new series of books, but since I am no longer connected with any major studio I am afraid I can't give you any advice re what action you should take concerning these properties. I am sure some literary agent would be able to handle the case. Hope this finds you well and all projects going successfully." Nominated three times for Academy Awards for Best Actor, Holden won the 1954 Oscar for the role of J.J. Sefton in Stalag 17. He was also nominated in 1951 for portraying Joe Gillis in Sunset Blvd. and in 1977 for the role of network news division President Mark Schumacher in Network. Other memorable roles were the boxer/violinist in Golden Boy and Judy Holliday's tutor in Born Yesterday. Fold creases through signature. Fine condition.
