In full: "Your recent letter with its several kind expressions is greatly appreciated by me. As a token of appreciation, and in accordance with your request, I am happy to be able to send you, under separate cover, autographed presentation copies of two of my books, one for each of your sons. Cordially". With original stamped, typed mailing envelope. The books of author and photographer Alice Curtis Desmond, who died in 1990 at the age of 93, include such biographies as Titus of Rome, Sword and Pen for George Washington, Martha Washington, Our First Lady, Glamorous Dolly Madison and Bewitching Betsy Bonaparte as well as Your Flag and Mine. She was married to Thomas Charles Desmond, who served in the New York State Senate from 1931-1958, until his death and later married U.S. Congressman Hamilton Fish, Sr. The couple founded the Alice Curtis Desmond and Hamilton Fish Library in Garrison, New York, which received the bulk of Desmond's estate upon her death. Mid-horizontal fold, not at signature. Slightly soiled at blank left margin. Irregular left edge. Fine condition.
