ANDREA BOCELLI
6x4 color photo of the singer walking down a forest path
Photograph signed: "Andrea Bocelli". Color, 6x4. Italian-born
international superstar Andrea Bocelli (born in Tuscany in 1958) has
thrilled audiences around the globe as both a solo artist and for his work
with such greats as Luciano Pavarotti (the two first teamed up on "Miserere"
and Bocelli would later sing "Ave Maria" at his friend's 2003 wedding) and
Sarah Brightman (their duet, "Con Te Paratirò" or "Time to Say
Good-bye", is one of Bocelli's most recognizable songs). Bocelli, who has
found success with pop ballads as well as opera, also teamed up with
Céline Dion for the Academy Award-nominated song, "The Prayer", from the
1998 animated film, The Quest for Camelot. In addition to his
recordings, which include Romanza, Viaggo Italiano,
Bocelli, Sacred Arias, Andrea and Amore as well as
full-length operas, Bocelli has moved crowds during appearances in such diverse
settings as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the smoldering
ruins of Ground Zero, the base of the Statue of Liberty, the closing of the 2006
Winter Olympic Games and concert venues around the world. He has also sung
for Pope John Paul II, and Bocelli brought his music to millions with his
television specials, which include Andrea Bocelli: A Night in Tuscany
(1998), Tuscan Skies - Andrea Bocelli (2001) and Great Performances:
Amore Under the Desert Sky (2006), and his guest appearances on other
specials, including Pavarotti & Friends 2 (1994), Céline Dion:
These Are Special Times (1998), Sarah Brightman in Concert (1998),
Pavarotti: The Last Tenor (2004) and The Royal Variety Performance
2005 (2005). He also coached the six finalists from American Idol for
their "classic love songs" week and made a live appearance on the show in 2006.
Bocelli, who has been blind since the age of 12, also plays the piano, flute and
saxophone, and he earned a law degree before starting on his full-time music
career. Bocelli first published his autobiography, La Musica del
silenzio (The Music of Silence) in 1999; the English version was
released the following year as Andrea Bocelli: The Autobiography. Fine
condition.
