Contract signed: "Anne Meara" under "Approved" and "Gerald Stiller Pres" for Stiller & Meara Enterprises, Inc., 1p, 8½x11. No place, 1971 February 24. In letter form from Yorkshire Productions, Inc. to Stiller & Meara Enterprises, Inc., c/o William Morris Agency, Inc. New York, New York regarding Anne Meara's appearance on The Kraft Music Hall television program. Begins: "Gentlemen".   In full: "Reference is hereby made to the Independent Contractor Agreement between us dated July 30, 1970 pertaining to the KRAFT MUSIC HALL, and to the letter agreement between us of the same date. It is agreed that the second of the two (2) further KRAFT MUSIC HALL television programs for which you are to furnish the services of Anne Meara, as provided in sub-paragraph (i) of the seond paragraph of said letter agreement, shall be the program presently scheduled for initial airing on March 17, 1971. The rehearsal and taping dates for said program shall be the period of March 3, 1971 through March 7, 1971 inclusive. Anne Meara shall receive billing as a guest star. All the other terms and conditions shall be as set forth in the Independent Contractor Agreement and letter agreement both dated July 30, 1970. If the foregoing meets with your approval, please sign and return copies to us." Also signed by a representative of Yorkshire Productions, Inc. The couple had originally been scheduled to appear together on the program on March 17. Instead, Meara appeared alone on March 17 and the couple's appearance together on the program aired on March 31. Actress, comedienne, playwright and screenwriter ANNE MEARA (1929-2015), the wife and comedic partner of Jerry Stiller, has appeared in a number of television variety series, in films and on stage both with her husband and as a solo performer. Stiller & Meara rocketed to stardom on 1960s variety shows, including The Ed Sullivan Show and The Steve Allen Show, their material usually drawn from their different ethnic backgrounds. Meara has appeared in a number of feature films, including Lovers and Other Strangers (1970, with Stiller), The Out-of-Towners (1970), Fame (1980) and Awakenings (1990), starred in the TV series Kate McShane (1975), was a regular on Rhoda (1976-1977), Archie Bunker's Place (1979-1983) and Alf (1987) and was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in Anna Christie. JERRY STILLER (1927-2020), perhaps best known for his role as Frank Costanza on Seinfeld, has been appearing on the TV series The King of Queens since 1998. He has also appeared on the big screen in films including Airport 1975 and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (both 1974), Hairspray (1988) and Zoolander (2001, which starred his son, Ben Stiller). Stiller and Meara, who met while auditioning for an opera in 1954 and married the following year, are the parents of comic actor Ben Stiller. Lightly creased, not at signatures.
