Written and directed by The Coen Brothers, Barton Fink stars John Turturro, John Goodman and Judy Davis. The film takes place in 1941 and focuses on New Yorker Barton Fink (Turturro), who is an aspiring screenwriter that has been hired to write scripts for a Hollywood studio. The film swept the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for three Academy Awards (including best actor for Turturro). JOHN TURTURRO (b. 1957) won an Obie while creating the title role in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (1984), and an Emmy as the brother of Adrian Monk on the TV series. He has appeared in nine Spike Lee films, beginning with Do the Right Thing (1989), and is also often featured in films of Adam Sandler and of the Coen brothers. A writer and director as well as an actor, he performed all three roles in Illuminata (1999), which co-starred his wife, Katherine Borowitz. Men of Respect (1990), was a gangster film inspired by Shakespeare's Macbeth.  Australian born JUDY DAVIS (b. 1955) is a film, stage and television actress who has won seven Australian Academy Awards and two British Academy Awards. Starting out on the stage, Davis acted alongside Mel Gibson in the 1978 production of Romeo and Juliet. After some years in the theater, she appeared in My Brilliant Career (1979). She has also had roles in the tv show Serving in Silence (1995) and the films The Reagans (2003), The Breakup (2006) and The Eye of the Storm (2011).
