CLIFFIE STONE
The country music producer and artist signs this sheet music for "Silver Stars, Purple Sage, Eyes of Blue" telling the recipient to save it "for ever and ever"
Inscribed sheet music signed: "Save this music for/ever and ever-/Thanks Clint-/Cliffie/Stone" in blue ink. 4p, 9x12. American country musician and producer Cliffie Stone (1917-1998) was a pivotal figure in the revival of country music post World War II, helping to discover new talent and renew interest in the forgotten genre. Stone played bass as a young man, appearing in bands and on radio in California. He began working for Capitol Records in 1946 as an A&R man, discovering talents like Tennessee Ernie Ford, Molly Bee, and Hank Thompson. Although he discovered several important names in country music, Stone became more famous for his own talent, recording six albums with several bands of his and producing the 1955 hit "The Popcorn Song". Stone formed his own publishing company, Central Songs, in the 1960's, which proved very successful for him. Stone's son, Curtis, performs in the country music band Highway 101. Lightly toned. Diagonal crease along bottom left corner. Lightly creased throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
