Typed letter signed: "Daniel Blum", "Charles Carson", 1 page, 8½x11. October 22, 1956. New York City, New York. Typed letter from Daniel Blum, asking for the actor's information to include in his publication. Response: "I apologize for the delay in answering - it just got overlooked. I left in such a hurry to come over here I forgot photographs. Will [illegible] "publicity" ones Yours truly". DANIEL BLUM (1900-1964) founded Theatre World in 1945, serving as its chief editor until his death in 1964. Aided by Norman McDonald and John A. Willis (his successor as chief editor), Blum also conceived what would become the prestigious Theatre World Awards for promising new actors in the New York stage, Broadway and later off-Broadway as well. CHARLES CARSON (1885-1977) was a British actor who performed heavily through the 1931 to 1973, appearing in over 130 titles. His first role was in the film The Loves of Ariane (1931) as The Professor, and continued to play staunch and serious roles through his career. Other films include Men of Tomorrow (1932), I Married A Spy (1937), and Reach for the Sky (1956). He also had several recurring roles in television, including Captain Ball in Glencannon (1959). Multiple folds. Corners slightly worn and creased. Surface creases. Slightly toned. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
