Signature: “G.W. Dargan/ Darlington/ S.C.” 7¼x2¼. George W. Dargan (1841-1898) was a
South Carolina politician. Before commencing his political career, Dargan served in the
American Civil War, fighting for the Confederacy. Following the war, he studied law. In
1872, he was admitted to the bar and began practicing in his hometown of Darlington, South
Carolina. Then, in 1877, Dargan was elected to the South Carolina State House of
Representatives. He went on to serve as a South Carolina congressman from 1883 to
1891. Lightly toned. Corners and edges gently worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
