Short letter written from Eagle Camp, the resort camp he built in the Adirondacks

Whittelsey, Hartford Rubber Works Co., Hartford, Connecticut,in full: "Your letter was received and I hereby reply with your request. Enclosed please find autograph. Yours sincerely". Phileas Chapman Lounsbury (1841-1925) was medically discharged from the Union Army after 4 months in 1861, refusing to accept a pension. A Republican, he was served one term as Governor of Connecticut (1887-1889), advocating for a reduced work week (60 hours!) for women and minors. His brother Edward Lounsbury served as Connecticut's Governor too (1899-1901). He established a luxury resort camp, Eagle Camp, on Raquette Lake, in New York's Adirondack region. Toned.
