Blair and Horne sign a yellow 5¾x4 album leaf
Inscribed signature: "To Louie/Sincerely/Janet Blair" and, on verso, "to Louie/Geoffrey Horne", 5¾x4. Talented singer and stage, screen and television actress JANET BLAIR (1921-2007), born Martha Jean Lafferty, was singing with Hal Kemp's band at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles when she was discovered by a Columbia Pictures talent scout in 1941. She was featured in one film (Three Girls About Town) that year, and Blair appeared in three more films before starring in her "breakout role" - Eileen Sherwood in My Sister Eileen (1942). Going on to appear in films until 1976 (Won Ton Ton, the Dog Who Saved Hollywood), her credits include The Fabulous Dorseys (1947), The Fuller Brush Man (1948), Boys' Night Out (1962) and The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (1968). Blair, who left Hollywood for Broadway in 1950, is best known for her role as Ensign Nellie Forbush in South Pacific, in which she toured for many years, appearing in the role more times than any other actress. Blair also enjoyed a successful television career, appearing on early TV anthologies from 1948 (The Ford Theatre Hour) and guest starring on a number of TV series and game shows. Actor GEOFFREY HORNE (born in 1933 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is best known for his role as Lieutenant Joyce in the 1957 film, The Bridge on the River Kwai. His work in that film led M-G-M to consider him for the title role in the 1959 re-make of Ben-Hur, which went to Charlton Heston. Horne had made his acting debut in 1955 on an episode of Kraft Television Theatre, and he would appear in many of the major TV anthologies of the day, including The Philco Television Playhouse, Studio One, Hallmark Hall of Fame and Robert Montgomery Presents. Horne also appeared in several made-for-TV movies, including Judgment: The Court Martial of Lieutenant William Calley and It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman (both 1975), and he guest starred in several TV series, from Adventures in Paradise (1960) to Police Woman (1975). Horne's feature film credits include The Strange One (1957, his debut), Two People (1973) and Big Daddy (1999, his last film). Slightly creased at lower left corner.
