She's played everywhere - English dance halls to London's Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie to the Blue Note Cafe. She's been on stage, on Broadway, to London's West End, done opera and the BBC. She is one of the most celebrated singers of our time. Cleo commands a dazzling array of vocal styles and is the only singer ever to receive Grammy nominations in the Female Jazz, Popular, and Classical categories. English jazz composer and musician, John Dankwork (1927-2010) was born into a family of musicians and studied at London's Royal Academy of Music. He began his career on the British jazz scene and in 1949 was Musician of the Year, attended the Paris Jazz Festival and toured Sweden.In 1950 he formed the Dankworth Seven and in 1953 formed his big band, married his singer Cleo Laine in 1958 the same time his career as a "popular" composer of themes - The Avengers and Tomorrow's World, began. He was professor of music at Gresham College, London (1984-1986) and was made a Knight Bachelor in the 2006 New Year's Honours List. Laine and Dankworth have 2 children.Fine condition.
