Kevin Kemp (b. 1954) is a Canadian former professional hockey defenseman who played briefly in the National Hockey League with the Hartford Whalers. Kemp played major junior hockey with the Ottawa 67's before the Toronto Maple Leafs selected him in the eighth round, 138th overall, of the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. Although drafted by Toronto, he never appeared in an NHL game for the Maple Leafs. Kemp began his professional career in 1974 and spent the following seasons in several North American minor leagues. His teams included the Milwaukee Admirals, Hampton Gulls, Oklahoma City Blazers, and Saginaw Gears. He spent two full seasons with Saginaw in the International Hockey League before moving to the New Brunswick Hawks of the American Hockey League. When four former World Hockey Association clubs entered the NHL in 1979, Kemp's rights remained with Toronto. The Hartford Whalers selected him from the Maple Leafs in the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. He subsequently played in the AHL with the Springfield Indians and Binghamton Whalers while remaining in the Hartford organization. Kemp received his only NHL opportunity during the 1980-81 season, appearing in three games for Hartford. He recorded no goals or assists, four penalty minutes, five shots on goal, and a minus-1 rating. Smudges on card. Fine condition.
