staples. With a $3.50 Family Circle ticket to the Metropolitan Opera in an envelope stapled to
page opposite cast page. Metropolitan Opera program from the 1967-1968 season for an Oct.
11, 1967 performance of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. This performance was Krause's
debut at the Met. Krause was Count Almavira, Lorengar was Countess Almavira, Freni was
Susanna and Siepi was Figaro. LORENGAR (1928-1996, born Pilar Lorenza García in
Zaragoza, Spain) was a Spanish soprano. She began her singing career young by participating
in a radio program called Onda Infantiles. She debuted in 1955 at Aix-en-Provence as
Cherubino in La Nozza di Figaro and, after performing in England and Buenos Aires,
Argentina, began a 30-year relationship with the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 1958. Lorengar
debuted at the Met in 1966 as Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni and performed
every season there until 1977. Her performances took her around the world, from San
Francisco to Madrid, Brussels to Tokyo and included performances at the famous Teatro alla
Scala in Milan, Italy. She was also known for her performances in Zarzuela, a Spanish genre
that combines singing, spoken word performances and dance; she recorded a 1985 Zarzuela
album in 1985 with Plácido domingo at the Salzburg Music Festival. Operatic bass SIEPI,
born in 1923,became a popular star in Italy after returning from exile after World War II. He
starred with New York's Metropolitan Opera for half a century (1950-1974). Siepi
appeared on Broadway, and was known for his fine recital and recording performances as well
as his striking presence on stage. Italian soprano FRENI (1935-2020) born in Modena, Italy, is
best known for her roles as Mimi in La Bohème and Cho-Cho-San in Madama Butterfly.
After making her stage debut in Carmen in Modena in 1955, Freni first appeared in Covent
Garden (as Nannetta in Falstaff) in 1961, debuted at La Scala (again as Nannetta) in 1962
and made her first appearance at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Mimi in 1965. In
addition to appearing on opera stages all over the world, the lyrical soprano has appeared in
film versions of La Bohème (1965), Carmen (1967) and Otello (1973), TV versions of such
operas as Madama Butterfly (1974), La Bohème (1975, 1988), Faust (1975, 1989), Otello
(1976), Don Carlo (1984), Aida (1987) and Falstaff (1993), and she has sang on a number of
recordings. Freni's later career highlights include singing in Barcelona with José Carreras and
in Chicago with Placido Domingo. On May 15, 2005, she was honored by a gala concert at
the Metropolitan Opera to celebrate her 70th birthday, 50th anniversary on the operatic stage
and 40th anniversary of her debut at the Met. KRAUSE, born in 1934 in Helsinki, Finland, is
a Finnish baritone. He was originally a psychiatrist with a medical degree from Helsinki
University, but gave it up to pursue singing. He debuted in 1957 in Berlin and has been a
member of the Hamburg State Opera since 1962. He debuted in America at Tanglewood in
Massachusetts in 1963. Lightly toned and creased.Ticket was torn in half and has irregular
bottom edge.Ink transference on verso and under cast page (no show-through. Covers are
lightly soiled. Spine and edges are lightly worn. Corners are lightly worn, rounded and creased.
