The actor and director pens his name on an envelope commemorating American Legends
Commemorative Envelope signed: "Richard Benjamin", in black felt tip, 6½x3½. Printed image of the outline of the United States with “American Legends” printed in the center. Ink stamp applied featuring an open book with man on horseback that reads: “Legends of the West Station/ at Tulsa City-County Library/ Tulsa, OK 74103/ October 22, 1994”. 29¢ stamp affixed honoring Jim Beckwourth, an African-American hunter and fur trader who participated in John Fremont's western expedition. Actor/director Richard Benjamin (b.1938) began his career on the stage, directing the London production of Barefoot in the Park(1965) and the following year, made his Broadway acting debut in The Star Spangled Girl for which he won a Theatre World Award for his performance. In 1967, he appeared with his wife, Paula Prentiss, in the TV situation comedy He and She (1967). Benjamin made his first screen appearance in Goodbye, Columbus (1969) and later appeared in such films as Catch-22 (1969), Portnoy's Complaint (1972), Westworld (1973), The Sunshine Boys (1976) and Love at First Bite (1980). He made his directorial bow with My Favorite Year (1982), and continues to favor directing over acting. Ink transfer remnants on verso. Faint pencil notes near bottom edge of verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
