Johnnie B. "Dusty" Baker Jr., born on June 15, 1949, in Riverside, California, is an accomplished American baseball manager and former player. Known for his versatile talent and leadership, Baker has had a significant impact on Major League Baseball (MLB) as both a player and a manager.

Baker started his playing career in MLB in 1968 as an outfielder with the Atlanta Braves. Over a 19-year playing career, he also represented the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and Oakland Athletics. Baker was part of the Dodgers' 1981 World Series-winning team and is a two-time All-Star. He retired from playing in 1986, with 242 home runs and a .278 career batting average.

Post-retirement, Baker transitioned into coaching, and in 1993, he was appointed manager of the San Francisco Giants, beginning a management career that would span several decades. He has since managed the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, and Houston Astros, leading the Giants to the World Series in 2002 and the Astros in 2021. Baker is recognized for his leadership style and his ability to cultivate a strong team culture. He has won the National League Manager of the Year award three times (1993, 1997, and 2000). With over 1800 managerial wins, he ranks among the top 15 managers in MLB history for career wins.
