Biography
Ernest Tubb (1914-1984), is said to have created the honky-tonk style of country music with his hit "Walking the Floor Over You" (1943). In 1943, the same year he joined the Grand Ole Opry, Tubb formed his band, The Texas Troubadours. Tubb was with the Opry in its first Carnegie Hall show (1947). He sang duets with Loretta Lynn in the 1960s, including the hit "Sweet Thang". He is enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
