Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: "Sincere + Best Wishes/ Stuart Foster/ 1942" in green ink. B/w. 8x10. Stuart Foster (1923-1968), born Tamer Aswad, was a vocalist with Tommy Dorsey during the 1940s. A ballad singer, Stuart sang with Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians in 1944 before hooking up with Dorsey in 1945. He sang with Dorsey for three and a half years and on such songs as A Thousand and One Nights, Time After Time, It's the Same Old Dream and My Love For You, among others. He also recorded with Gordon Jenkins in the 1950s. He was working with Ina Ray Hutton in New York City when he met Patricia “Bubbles” Louie from the Kim Loo Sisters, and they married on April 15, 1946. Stuart was known for his beautiful voice and some of the songs he performed were: “Heart, Marie” from the 1947 movie The Fabulous Dorseys with Janet Blair, “Somethings gotta give”, among others. He died from a heart attack. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
