The Nobel Prize-winner in Physics (1980) signs on this ornate bordered card in black ink
Printed Card Signed in Ink: "Val L. Fitch", 5x3 card with ornate border. Val Logsdon Fitch
(1923-2015), of Princeton University, shared the 1980 Nobel Prize in Physics with James
Cronin (born 1931) "for the discovery of violations of fundamental symmetry principles in
the decay of neutral K-mesons." Fitch, who became Chairman of the Physics Department at
Princeton in 1976, worked on the Manhattan Project for three years during WWII as a
soldier with the U.S. Army. He later worked at Brookhaven Cosmotron, where he met
Cronin, and the two worked together at Princeton from the 1950s until 1971. Lightly soiled
at blank right margin. Ink note on verso shows through faintly in upper left. Otherwise, fine
condition.
