This handwritten letter to a fan explaining that he did more work on Indiana Jones than Star Wars is signed by the British stunt actor and director, along with a 7½x5 photograph showing him with Harrison Ford
(1) Autograph letter signed: “Vic Armstrong” in blue ink. 3½x7¾. Written on letterhead of Paramount Pictures. In full:Dear Billy, I am sorry it took so long but I have been travelling and only just picked up the mail. The pic is Harrison and me on “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. I did more on the Indy's than Star Wars. Enjoy + good luck.” Lightly toned. Corners slightly rounded. Otherwise, fine condition. (2) Inscribed photograph signed: “To Billy/Warm/Regards/Vic Armstrong” in red felt. 7½x5. Edges irregular. Otherwise, fine condition. Victor Monroe Armstrong (b. 1946) is a British film director, stunt coordinator, and stunt double -- the World's most prolific according to the Guinness Book of Records. He doubled for Harrison Ford in the first three Indiana Jones films, Timothy Dalton in Flash Gordon, George Lazenby for the skiing scenes in the Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Christopher Reeve in Superman and Superman II. Armstrong's first movie as a director was the 1993 action film Joshua Tree (a.k.a. Army of One) starring Dolph Lundgren and George Segal. He received an honorary Academy Award in 2001 for his work and received a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema. His memoir My Life as Indiana Jones, James Bond, Superman and Other Action Heroes: The True Adventures of the World's Greatest Stuntman was published by Titan Books in early 2011. 2 items.
