Check No. 45, drawn on the Equitable Trust Co., payable through the New York Clearing House to "Cash" for "Five" dollars. Chrysler has signed and filled in the check. Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. (1909-1988), the son and namesake of the auto designer and founder of Chrysler Corporation held positions in the family firm, managing the Chrysler Building (1935-1953) and heading a project of the firm to manufacture air conditioners. His principal love, however, was art. A lifelong art collector and patron, Chrysler was a driving force in the growth of New York's Museum of Modern Art. In 1971, he donated his extensive private collection to the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, Virginia. Light, bisecting vertical fold. Normal bank stamps and cancellation holes, one stamp on verso showing through faintly at signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
