paper. Canandaigua, New York, 1873 May 5. To C. A. McCullough, in
full: "I comply with your request by informing you I was member of
Assembly of this State in 1854. Please turn to Congressional Directory 1872.
Yours truly". William H. Lamport (1811-1891) served a term in the
State Assembly, as he notes here, and also in local offices, including Sheriff
of Ontario County (1850-1853). A Republican, he served two terms in the US
House of Representatives (1871-1875), declining to seek a third term. Light
surface creases. Normal mailing folds. Slightly toned. Slightly soiled. Mounting
residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
