This typed expense report, addressed to Mr. M. H. Simpson, lists Freeman's expenses for the week of Nov. 26, 1955. According to this expense report, Freeman was advanced $500 and spent $386.89, leaving $113.11 to be accounted for. Freeman (1890-1969, born Young Frank Freeman) was an executive for Paramount Pictures who headed the studio in the late 1950s. He helped push a transformation in the studio system, which moved away from salaried and strictly controlled producers to the use of outside production units. These production companies were staffed by actors, directors and producers whom the studios enticed with promises of independence and profit sharing. Freeman was also the first winner of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts' Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1956. Lightly toned and creased. Staple holes and two binder holes near top edge. Light tears in left and bottom edges. Red binding remnants from pad at top edge. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
