BEN E. KING
A DJ copy of King's single "You've Got All of Me", signed by King in
black felt tip
Record signed: "Ben E. King/Stand/By/Me", in black felt tip. 7
inch diameter. DJ copy of King's song "You've Got All of Me", with the B-Side
playing "It's All Right". After breaking into music with a series of R&B
groups, including the refashioned Drifters (1959), Ben E. King
(1938-2015) wrote several hits including "There Goes My Baby",
"Dance With Me" and "This Magic Moment". Going solo in 1960 under his
new stage name (he was born Benjamin Nelson), King had hits the following
year with "Spanish Harlem" and his signature song, "Stand By Me". An early
success in crossing over from the R&B to the pop charts, King provided a
model for Motown performers of the 1960s. His career got a major boost when
"Stand By Me" became the theme of the popular film of the same name in 1986.
