FLESH AND THE SPUR MOVIE CAST
Signatures from John Agar and Raymond Hatton on a black and white still from the Western film
Printed photograph signed in ink: "Raymond Hatton", "John Agar", B/w 10x8. An apparently rising star in such war and Western films as She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949), handsome actor JOHN AGAR (1921-2002) was largely consigned to low budget science fiction movies after his divorce from Shirley Temple in 1949 (the 27-year-old actor had married 17-year-old Temple in 1945 after a whirlwind courtship). He later appeared in three Westerns with friend John Wayne (1969-1971) and was often sought for film and TV character roles. Screen and television actor RAYMOND HATTON (1887-1971) appeared in almost 500 films after making his debut in 1909. He was part of a comedy team with Wallace Beery in early silents, including Behind the Front (1926) and Now We're In the Air (1927), and Hatton is also known for portraying Rusty Joslin in The Three Musketeers films. He was also in the Rough Riders series with Buck Jones and Tim McCoy, and Hatton played sidekick to Johnny Mack Brown and Bob Livingston. In addition to his film Westerns, Hatton also appeared on a number of TV western series, including The Gene Autry Show, Hopalong Cassidy, The Cisco Kid, Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok, Annie Oakley, Cheyenne, Death Valley Days, Tales of the Texas Rangers, Sugarfoot andTombstone Territory, as well as other TV shows, such as Adventures of Superman and Circus Boy. His last film role was as an elderly man picking up bottles in the 1967's In Cold Blood. Toned. Corners lightly worn and creased. Light surface creases. Slightly soiled. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Small notch to upper left edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
