Character actor George Tobias (1901-1980) appeared in films from 1927 (The Lunatic), but he is best known for his role as Abner Kravitz, the long-suffering husband of nosy neighbor Gladys Kravitz, on the popular TV series, Bewitched (1964-1971). Tobias, who also reprised the role for an episode of Tabitha (1977), also made guest appearances on a number of other TV series, including Our Miss Brooks (1954), Laramie (1960), The Rebel (1960), 77 Sunset Strip (1958, 1960), The Untouchables (1961), Perry Mason (1964), Love, American Style (1969), Mannix (1970) The Waltons (1972-1973, as junk man Vernon Rutley), Medical Center (1972-1976) and Starsky and Hutch (1976). His film credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), Sergeant York (1941), You're in the Army Now (1941), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), My Sister Eileen (1942), My Wild Irish Rose (1947), The Glenn Miller Story (1953), The Seven Little Foys (1955), Silk Stockings (1957), Marjorie Morningstar (1958), Bullet for a Badman (1964) and The Glass Bottom Boat (1966).
