The U.S. Congressman from Ohio sends a letter to an Ohio man, saying "I will do my best for Mr. Charles A. Evans whose pension is being withheld, in spite of the Act of Congress".
Typed Letter signed: "Greg Holbrock" as U.S. Congressman, 1 page, 8x10½. Washington, D.C., 1942 September 10. On letterhead of the Congress of the United States House of Representatives addressed to Mr. Roy G. Fitzgerald, Dayton, Ohio. In full: "Dear Mr. Fitzgerald: I will do my best for Mr. Charles A. Evans whose pension is being withheld, in spite of the Act of Congress. Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention and I will report as quickly as possible. Sincerely yours," Greg John Holbrock (1906-19992) was born in Hamilton, Ohio. He received a Ph.D. from Xavier University in 1928, a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1932 and commenced a private law practice. Holbrock was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democrat from Ohio and served from January 3, 1941 to January 3, 1943. After his term in office he served in the U.S. Navy (1943-1946) and as chairman of the Butler County Democratic Executive Committee (1950-1966). Normal mailing folds. Fine condition.
