PAUL LYNDE
Standard AFTRA contract for Lynde to appear on Perry Como's show
Contract signed: "Paul Lynde" as Performer, 18p, 8½x11, separate sheets. No place, 1961 May 1. Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract for a Single Television Appearance between Roncom Productions and Lynde for his appearance as a Guest Artist on Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall, airing May 10, 1961. Lynde, who was to be paid $1,000 for his appearance, has also initialed: "PL" six times on Riders affixed to the contract. Also signed: "Harvey B Sindle" as Assistant Secretary for Roncom Productions, Inc. Sindle has also initialed: "HBS" beneath Lynde's initials at six places. Beginning with the 1963 Disney film Son of Flubber, comic actor Paul Lynde (1926-1982) played a series of movie character parts in which he made snide, cynical comments about everyone and everything. His notable performances include the long-suffering father in Broadway's Bye Bye Birdie and Uncle Arthur on TV's Bewitched. During the late 1970s, Lynde cultivated a fan following for his wisecracking appearances in the "center square" on the TV celebrity quizzer, Hollywood Squares. Lightly creased and soiled. Staple holes at upper margins of all pages, paper clip impressions and stray ink mark at upper margin of first page, which also has stray ink marks at left and right blank margins. Pinhead-size holes at upper blank margins of last 2 pages. Overall, fine condition.
