Navy dive-bomber pilot, replaced Jack Newkirk as Commander of the 2nd Squadron ("Panda Bears") of the Flying Tigers in March of 1942. He accumulated 18¼ confirmed victories and was noted for his hit and run tactics. Hill was one of only five Flying Tigers who was inducted into the U.S. Army after the group was disbanded in July. Given the rank of Major, Hill commanded the 75th Fighter Squadron and served as Commander of the 23rd Fighter Group while on his second combat tour in China. After the war, he rose to the rank of General in the Texas Air National Guard. Dust jacket is lightly worn at corners, creased, and dented. Otherwise, fine condition.
