Typed Letter Signed: “Pete” in black ink, 1p, 8½x11. September 11, 1972. On official Delta Sigma Phi letterhead, Executive Offices, Denver, Colorado. Addressed in header to: Douglas Voegler/ Alpha Psi/ Lincoln, Nebraska. Original mailing envelope included. Corners and edges gently worn. Red ink markings toward upper right-hand corner. Otherwise, fine condition. Text of letter in full: “Congratulations to you, Doug --/ on receiving the award for the most Outstanding Active in Delta Sigma Phi during the school year 1971-72. The certificate honoring you with this award has been mailed to you and this morning we send the other section of it, the medal./ The award will be formally presented to you by the Engineered Leadership Commissioner Brother Harmon Ruliffson of Alpha Psi Chapter. I believe it is his intent to make this presentation during the homecoming activities at which time you would then have a large and captive audience for this beautiful ceremony./ My personal congratulations. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy and I would hope that you would be a true inspiration to others in Delta Sigma Phi that might aspire to this coveted award./ Sincerely,/ YOURS IN THE BOND OF SPHINX”. Lightly toned. Holes punched along left-hand side. Stain resulting from tape adhesion toward closing, touches “P” of “Pete”. Francis Wacker served as both the general secretary (beginning in 1947) and then as the executive director of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He retired from the post in 1978. Signer merits further research. Two items.
