The actor and actress sign opposite sides of a 5½x4½ album leaf.
Autograph Note signed: "To Bes (sic, Bev)/good Luck/John Russell" and, on verso, "To Bev/Patricia Medina", 5½x4½ album leaf. Ink note (unknown hand) at upper right margins of front and verso: "May 6, 1950/Jo Rue's". A "V" has also been written to the right of the "s" in Russell's inscription, likely by the recipient, whose name was Bev. Magazine photographs of Russell and Medina affixed at lower left corners of signature sides. A former child actor, JOHN RUSSELL (1921-1991) returned from WWII as a decorated Marine veteran. He appeared in many Westerns and other action films, usually as a villain or secondary lead, until being cast in his best known role, Marshall Dan Troop in the TV Western, Lawman (1959-1962). Russell's last film role, as a villain again, was in Under the Gun (1988). In the year he signed this autograph, Russell was seen on the big screen in Frenchie and Saddle Tramp. Actress PATRICIA MEDINA, born in Liverpool in 1920, was in British films from the late 1930s. Married to actor Richard Greene from 1941 until their divorce in 1951, Medina was also married to actor Joseph Cotten (1960 until his death on February 6, 1994), with whom she made her Broadway debut in 1962's Calculated Risk. Usually cast as a beautiful damsel in distress, Medina's film credits include The Three Musketeers (1948), Botany Bay (1953), Phantom of the Rue Morgue (1954), Mr. Arkadin (1955) and The Killing of Sister George (1968), and she also appeared on a long list of TV shows and series, from early anthologies in 1953 to Mannix in 1971. In 1950, the year she signed this autograph, Medina was seen in four feature films: The Jackpot, Fortunes of Captain Blood, Francis the Talking Mule and Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion. Lightly creased. Minor show through of photograph on verso at 3 words of Russell's inscription. Rounded corners, irregular right edge from removal from bound book. Overall, fine condition.
