PEGGY FLEMING. Typed DS: "Peggy Fleming", 1p, 8½x11. No place, but likely Los Angeles, California, 1982 May 4. Regarding an appearance on the KABC radio program, Michael Jackson. Fleming has printed her name and filled out whom she represented ("Calif. Raisin"), her office address and telephone number, her title ("spokesperson") and the subjects to be discussed on air ("Fitness - Health"). Written at lower margin (unknown hand): "Ms. Fleming is a representative of the Calif (sic) Raisin Advisory Council. She believes that fitness is a way of life not a fad. She mentioned that raisin (sic) are a healthy snack and not fattening." After the entire U.S. Figure Skating team was killed in a plane crash in 1961, the revival of U.S. enthusiasm for the sport rested largely on Peggy Fleming (born in 1948). She won five U.S. titles, three world titles and a Gold Medal at the 1968 Olympics, the only Gold won by the U.S. team at the Grenoble games. Fleming starred in five TV figure skating specials, winning two Emmys, made many TV guest appearances and has served for over 20 years as an ABC Sports on air analyst. In 1999, "Sports Illustrated" included her in an elite group of seven 20th century "athletes who changed the game". Ink note (unknown hand) at upper right margin. 3 file holes at blank left edge. Fine condition.
