M. EMMET WALSH
The longtime actor signs still form the 1984 film Blood Simple in black ink
Photograph signed: "Best wishes/ M. Emmet Walsh" in black ink. Color, 6x4. May 1, 2014. Critic Roger Ebert so admires character actor M. Emmet Walsh (1935-2024) that he created the Stanton-Walsh rule: "no movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad." Walsh, who made his film debut in 1969's Midnight Cowboy, has appeared in a long list of feature films, including Alice's Restaurant (1969), What's Up Doc? (1972), Serpico (1973), Ordinary People (1980), Blade Runner (1982), Silkwood (1983), Blood Simple (1984), Fletch (1985), Raising Arizona(1987), Wild Wild West (1999) and Christmas with the Kranks (2004, in which he plays the neighbor of Tim Allen; in Allen's TV series, Home Improvement, Walsh played his father-in-law). Walsh, who often plays southern characters, although he was born in New York, has also appeared in a number of TV movies and has guest starred on several TV series, from N.Y.P.D. (1969) to The Guardian (2003). Fine condition.
