SHELDON H. WHITE
The psychologist talks about his time as a boy scout, and how he is still grateful for the experiences from the organization.
Typed letter signed: "Sheldon H. White", in blue ink, 1 page 8½x11. Newtonville, Massachusetts. In part: "Dear Mr. Kover, I'm delighted that you found my letter useful. Please feel free to publish it. Sincerely". Sheldon H. White (1928-2005) was a psychologist known for his work on children's education and early development. His development was most prominent in the 1960's, contributing to both the development of the Head Start program, and his collaboration with the organization that developed Sesame Street. White was a firm believer in acting on his findings, and often helped to ensure his findings were portrayed in educational policies and practice. As he grew older, White helped educate fellow psychologists, having a long tenure with Harvard University as the head of their Psychology department. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2005 from a heart attack, but his work for his field is still present in teachings today. Normal mailing folds. Fine condition.
