American actress ELLEN DREW (1915-2003) starred in dozens of films for over thirty years, beginning in 1936. She played opposite such leading men as Ronald Colman, William Holden and Dick Powell. Her well regarded films included If I Were King (1938), Christmas in July (1940), China Sky (1944) and Man in the Saddle (1951). LLOYD NOLAN (1902-1985) would probably have been type cast as a villain had he been less obviously charming. He had his first starring role on Broadway, in One Sunday Afternoon (1933). He originated the role of Captain Queeg on Broadway, too, in The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial. Then he spent over fifty years in movie roles, including starring roles in G-Men (1935), A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945), Peyton Place (1957) and Hannah and Her Sisters (1986). Beginning with the title role in Martin Kane, Private Eye (1951), Nolan was also seen often on the small screen. Stage, screen and television actor ADOLPHE MENJOU (1890-1963) was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Front Page (1930-1931 Academy). Known for his waxed black mustache and stylish wardrobe, he usually appeared as a dapper man-of-the world in more than 100 films, including A Woman of Paris (1923), Morocco (1930), Little Miss Marker (1934), Stage Door (1937), A Star is Born (1937) and Paths of Glory (1957). His other films include A Farewell to Arms (1932) and Pollyanna (1960), and Menjou also hosted several TV series, including My Favorite Story (1953-1954) and Target. His 1948 autobiography was appropriately titled, It Took Nine Tailors. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
