(1918-1961, born Ira Grossel in Brooklyn, New York) began his career as a
radio actor and made his film debut in 1947. In 1950, he made the first of three
performances on the big screen as Apache Chief Cochise in Broken Arrow,
earning an Academy Award nomination. Chandler, who also recorded several
albums and sang in nightclubs, was one of the top leading men of the
1950s. He died at 42, shortly after making Merrill's Marauders, from
blood poisoning after spinal surgery. Left edge frayed. Fine
condition.
