JUSTIN TUBB
Justin Tubb signs a magazine page of him as a young man.
Magazine page signed: "My Very Best/Justin/Tubb", 1p, 8½x10¾ with b/w, 3½x4½ photograph at middle left. Page 44 from a magazine with partial biography. On verso is an unsigned b/w, 7¼x9½ photograph of his father Ernest Tubb. Justin Tubb (1935-1998) was a country music singer and songwriter and son of the legendary Ernest Tubb. He got his start working local clubs in college and, later, working as a DJ in Gallatin, Tennessee, occasionally singing some of his songs on-air. His first single was Ooh-La-La (1953), and he continued to record until the 1970s. Tubb put three songs in the Billboard Country Singles Top 20, including I Gotta Go Get My Baby (1955), Sure Fire Kisses with Goldie Hill (1955) and Take a Letter, Miss Gray (1963). He also wrote hits for other singers, including Hawkshaw Hawkins' 1963 chart-topper Lonesome 7-7203 and Del Reeve's Be Glad (1969), as well as the traditional country standard What's Wrong with the Waty We're Doing It Now. He also joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1955, where he performed until the 1970s. Rust stains at right edge from staples. Otherwise, fine condition.
