GLORIA DeHAVEN
This carbon copy document advising Seeco Records to send payments to William Morris Agency in New York City is signed by the actress in blue ink
Document Signed: "Gloria DeHaven" in blue ink. 1 page, 8½x11, carbon copy. Dated November 24, 1959. Addressed to Seeco Records, New York City. DeHaven signed this document to inform Seeco that, in connection with her Oct. 22, 1959 recording agreement with them, "all payments, statements and/or notices" should be sent to William Morris Agency in New York City. DeHaven signed this during a relative lull in her acting career. We can find only two credits for her in 1959: on one episode apiece of the television series Johnny Ringo and The Rifleman. Gloria DeHaven (1925-2016) was a band vocalist in film musicals such as Best Foot Forward (1943) and Summer Holiday (1948). She gradually moved into acting, emerging as a star in Summer Stock(1950) andThe Doctor and the Girl(1949).These films appeared set to rocket her to stardom: she could sing and she could act, making her a great fit for any role. However, she gradually turned to television in the 1950s, making guest appearances in many different shows. When the popularity of film musicals waned, DeHaven remained active as a nightclub and summer stock performer and made television appearances for decades, most prominently inMary Hartman, Mary Hartman(1976-1977) and the short-lived Nakia (1974). She re-entered the feature film industry in Out to Sea (1997) nearly 50 years later, starring opposite Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. Lightly tonedand creased. Staple holes in upper left corner. Binder hole along upper edge. Nicks in upper right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
