GLYNIS JOHNS
Traveling expenses for the week of Nov. 6, 1954, signed by actress Glynis Johns in pencil
Document signed "Glynis Johns" in pencil. Also signed "okay" by unknown signer in blue ink. 1 page, 7¼x10½. Titled: "Travel Expenses/Week Ending November 6, 1954". This sheet lists $260 in expenses from rent, food, maid, gratuities, taxi fare and phone. Johns appeared in two pictures around this time: Mad About Men, a sequel to her mermaid movie Miranda (1948) that premiered in the United Kingdom on Nov. 16, 1954, and Josephine and Men, which premiered in the UK on Nov. 9, 1955. Johns, a British actress born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1923 while her acting parents were touring there, was certified to teach ballet at age 10 and made her stage debut at 12, winning prominence the next year for her part in The Children's Hour (1936). Johns' film roles have included Miranda (as a mermaid, 1946), The Court Jester (1956), Mary Poppins (1964) and While You Were Sleeping (1995). Johns, who also had her own series on American TV (1963), won a Tony Award as Best Actress for A Little Night Music (1973). Lightly toned and creased. Two file holes at top edge. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
