HENRY WINKLER
Black and white publicity photograph of Henry Winkler wearing a
sweater.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Katie -/Be good
to/yourself./Love,/Henry Winkler/1985/Happy Holidays -". B/w, 8x10 overall,
image 7¼x8¼ (one surface). Paramount Pictures Corporation publicity photograph.
Captioned at lower margin. Signed the year after Happy Days, the
sitcom that made him a star (Winkler was nominated for three Emmy Awards for his
role as "the Fonz"), ended its run (1974-1984) on ABC. The year had been a busy
one for Winkler, who had supplied the voice for an animated film, Happily
Ever After. He also produced Young Sherlock Holmes and was
the executive producer of three made-for-TV movies (Scandal Sheet,
The Sure Thing and MacGuyver) and a TV series, MacGuyer.
On October 30, 1973 his 28th birthday, Henry Winkler (born in 1945) joined the
popular sitcom Happy Days as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli. Although
his character was never meant to be the star of the show, kids of all ages
soon were imitating his leather-jacketed greaser with his trademark "Aaaay!"
Both before and since Happy Days completed its run (1974-1984) on ABC,
Winkler appeared several feature films, including Heroes (1977), Night
Shift (1982) and Scream (1996). Winkler has also appeared in a long
list of TV series, from Mary Tyler Moore (1973) to a recurring role as
Barry Zuckerhorn on Arrested Development (2003-2005). He returned to
headline his own sitcom with Out of Practice, which debuted in
September 2005. Winkler has also been a successful director, producer and
executive producer. Slightly creased at blank margins. Minor surface creases
(not evident head on). Light black mark at lower right margin. Fine
condition.
