JIM LEHRER
Lehrer signed his personalized stationery from The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer "Thank you!"
Signatures: "Thank you!/Jim Lehrer". 4¾x7¾, on stationery inscribed with "The/NEWS/HOUR/with Jim Lehrer" and personalized "Jim Lehrer". Lehrer (1934-2020) was a television reporter who's probably best known as one of the anchors of the long-running MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour, now known as The News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Lehrer's journalism experience stretches back to high school, when he was one of three sports editors of the high school newspaper at Thomas Jefferson High School. After serving as a Marine for three years, Lehrer started his journalism career as a newspaper reporter in Dallas, Texas, where he covered the assassination of President John f. Kennedy. He moved to TV in 1970 on the Dallas-Fort Worth PBS (Public Broadcasting System) affiliate KERA-TV, anchoring a single-story in-depth news show called Newsroom. He joined Robert MacNeil on The MacNeil-Lehrer Report in 1975. The half-hourMacNeil-Lehrer Report aired on PBS from 1976 to1983, when it was expanded to the one-hour MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour, television's first regularly scheduled daily hour news show. Following MacNeil's retirement in 1995, the program was retitled The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. Lehrer is also a writer with 21 books to his credit, including Viva Max!, which was adapted into a 1969 comedy film. Lightly toned and creased. Small stain near lower right corner on front and upper right corner on verso; neither touches signature. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
