GLORIA DeHAVEN
The actress from Hollywood's Golden Age signed this contract twice, once on the primary contract and once on the attached rider
Contract Double Signed: "G DeH" on the rider and "Gloria DeHaven" on the contract itself. The contract is with the William Morris Agency, located on Broadway in New York City. Dated May 5, 1952. This contract includes only radio programs that the actress is involved in, explicitly excluding television shows and motion pictures. Gloria DeHaven (1925-2016) made her screen debut as Paulette Goddard's little sister in Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times (1936).She was a band vocalist in film musicals such as Best Foot Forward (1943) and Summer Holiday (1948). She gradually moved into acting, emerging as a star in Summer Stock(1950) andThe Doctor and the Girl(1949).These films appeared set to rocket her to stardom: she could sing and she could act, making her a great fit for any role. However, she gradually turned to television in the 1950s, making guest appearances on many different shows. When the popularity of film musicals waned, DeHaven remained active as a nightclub and summer stock performer and made television appearances for decades, most prominently inMary Hartman, Mary Hartman(1976-1977) and the short-lived Nakia (1974). She re-entered the feature film industry in Out to Sea (1997) nearly 50 years later, starring opposite Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. Two hole punches at the top of the contract. Rider stapled to main page. Light toning and creasing. Otherwise, fine condition.
