Inscribed signature: "To Max-/Best/Hal Prince". With pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 4¾x2¾. Prince, born in New York City in 1928, has a long list of Tony Awards to his credit. He directed and/or produced the following Tony winners, many of which also earned him Broadway's coveted plaudit as Best Director: Pajama Game (1955), Damn Yankees (1956), New Girl in Town (1958), Fiorello! (1960), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1963), Fiddler on the Roof (1965), Cabaret (1967), Company (1971), A Little Night Music (1973), Candide (1974), Sweeney Todd (1979), Evita (1980), and Phantom of the Opera (1988), culminating in a Lifetime Achievement Tony in 2006. If his nominated plays were added to the list, "minor" achievements like West Side Story and Kiss of the Spider Woman, this list would be even longer. Prince has also worked in film and television, including screen adaptations of some of his Broadway productions. Fiorello! also garnered Prince a Pulitzer Prize. Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Corners are rounded. Otherwise in fine condition.
