HENDRIK DE LEEUW
The author signs this typed letter to a journalist describing his books and their re-publishing in multiple countries
Typed letter signed: “Hendrik de Leeuw” in red ink. 7¼x10½. October 25, 1957. Typed letter to Louis Sobol, in part: “It is a long time, probably some ten or 12 years , that you must have seen my name in the papers, although I have seen yours almost every day, except those that my wife and I were abroad. We are avid readers of your column. And the reason why I'm dropping you a line is a rather interesting one. I do not know whether you still remember mentioning some of my CROSSROADS travel books in your columns. The first one, I believe, appeared more than 23 years ago, and I am happy to tell you that these very Crossroads books have just been re-published here, in the United States, as well as in London, England and some other countries. […] As for the rest of my work, I have been traveling abroad a great deal, a couple of times around the world, and my seventeenth work, or 'tome' as you called it, will appear during the month of November. The title is WOMAN, THE DOMINANT SEX, and deals mainly with the American Woman. I have asked my publishers to be sure to send you a copy for your library.” Hendrik de Leeuw was a Dutch-born American author. He wrote multiple titles on his travels throughout the world, including Cities of Sin, Woman, the Dominant Sex, and Java Jungle Tales. Lightly toned. Corners rounded. Edges creased. Normal mailing folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
