Typed letter signed by him on his personal stationery in 1981, addressed to Hollywood lawyer Leon Kaplan
Typed Letter signed: "Joe", 1 page, 8¼x10¾. No place, 1981 June 26. On personal letterhead to Leon Kaplan, Beverly Hills, California. In full: "Thank you for ringing me. Kamen's letter, as you see, followed closely on. I enclose copies of that letter and my reply. [Items not included.] "Kind regards. Sincerely". British film director Joseph Losey (1909-1984) worked in Hollywood until subjected to the Blacklist. Returning to Britain, he found popular success in films like King and Country (1964) and the spy spoof Modesty Blaize (1965). However, he may be best remembered for three critically acclaimed, prize-winning films based on screenplays by Harold Pinter: The Servant (1963), Accident (1967) and The Go-Between (1970). Other notable films include Galileo (1975) and a movie rendering of Don Giovanni (1979). Leon Kaplan (1908-2003) was a well-known Hollywood lawyer who numbered many film stars, directors and producers among his clients. Normal mailing folds. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
