Autograph Quotation Signed: "Lilian Whiting," in black ink.
3¼x2¼. In full: "The Sun set, but not his hope; Stars rose-his faith was
earlier up." This quotation comes from Whiting's work The World Beautiful
(1894, 1896, 1898), a book published in three parts. Lilian Whiting
(b.1859-1942) was an American author and journalist who worked primarily as
the literary editor for the Boston Traveler and the Boston
Budget. She is the author of many works, including Paris the
Beautiful (1908), The Lure of London (1914) and the Golden Road (1918).
