LILY PONS
The coloratura soprano signed this one-year contract in 1961 to hire the William Morris Agency as her TV motion picture agent for a 10 percent commission
Contract signed: "Lily Pons" as Actor and by an Agent of the William Morris Agency, 6p, 8½x11, 3 sheets, front and verso. Beverly Hills, California, Feb. 17, 1961. One-year contract hiring the William Morris Agency as Lily Pons' agent for TV motion picture agent for a 10 percent commission. French-American coloratura soprano Lily Pons (1904-1976) first appeared at the Metropolitan Opera in 1931. The opera revived roles especially for her, such as Delibes' "Lakmé," Donizetti's "La Fille du Regiment" and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Le Coq d'or". Pons also appeared in four films, I Dream Too Much (1935), That Girl From Paris (1936), Hitting a New High (1937) and Carnegie Hall (1947). In 1938, she married conductor André Kostelanetz; the couple performed together until the marriage ended in 1958. Red ink notations on page 1 in unknown hand and red ink stamps. Lightly toned and creased. Two file holes and staple holes at top edge. Rust stain in top left corner of page 1. Otherwise, fine condition.
